On March 23rd, 2023, a kick-off meeting took place at CMI for the new "Lighthouse" reseach project entitled, "Developing the Social Market Economy beyond Redistribution and Welfare". The three principal programme participants - project leaders Prof. Dr. Dr. Alexander J. Wulf and Prof. Dr. Ian Towers, as well as research associate Dr. Sönke Häseler, all from SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences - met in Berlin to discuss the project's major research aims, strategies and milestones. The team agreed to initially focused on researching the preconditions, obstacles and potential benefits of subjecting German power consumers to greater price risk in order to incentivise them to adapt their consumption to the fluctuations of renewable energy supply.
